WoW TBC Black Temple Attunement Guide

If you are planning to raid Black Temple in WoW: The Burning Crusade Classic, you will need to complete a long attunement questline before you can enter the raid. The questline takes you through Shadowmoon Valley, The Arcatraz, Serpentshrine Cavern, Tempest Keep, and Hyjal Summit.

Black Temple Attunement Requirements

You need to be level 70 and have chosen either the Aldor or Scryers. You will also need access to The Arcatraz and the raid content required later in the questline.

The best approach is to start the attunement as early as possible. Some parts can be completed before you are ready to progress through the required raids.

Step 1: Start in Shadowmoon Valley

The Black Temple attunement begins in Shadowmoon Valley.

Depending on your faction, you will start the questline at either the Aldor or Scryer area. You will work through the Baa'ri Tablet quests before moving on to Oronu the Elder, the Ashtongue Corruptors, and the quests around the Warden's Cage.

Eventually, you will meet Akama and continue the attunement from there.

Step 2: Continue Akama's Questline

After meeting Akama, continue completing the quests around the Warden's Cage. This part of the questline introduces you to the Ashtongue Deathsworn and moves you closer to Black Temple.

Take your time with this section and finish as many of the Shadowmoon Valley objectives as possible before worrying about the raid requirements.

Step 3: Visit The Arcatraz

Akama eventually sends you to The Arcatraz to find Seer Udalo.

Enter The Arcatraz and progress through the dungeon until you reach Seer Udalo. You do not need to complete the entire dungeon for this objective.

Speak with Seer Udalo and then return to Akama in Shadowmoon Valley.

Step 4: Complete The Ata'mal Terrace

The next part of the questline takes you to The Ata'mal Terrace in Shadowmoon Valley.

You will need a group because the enemies are elite. Defeat the required enemies and then defeat Shadowlord Deathwail.

After completing the objective, return to Akama and continue the questline.

Step 5: Defeat Fathom-Lord Karathress

The next major step requires Serpentshrine Cavern.

Enter the raid and defeat Fathom-Lord Karathress. Once the boss is dead, speak with Seer Olum to continue the questline.

You will then return to Akama in Shadowmoon Valley.

Step 6: Defeat Al'ar in Tempest Keep

Your next raid objective takes you to Tempest Keep.

You need to defeat Al'ar while wearing the Ashtongue Cowl disguise provided during the questline.

Make sure the disguise is active when the encounter is completed. This is an easy detail to miss, so remind your raid group before starting the boss.

After receiving credit, return to Akama and continue to the next part.

Step 7: Defeat Rage Winterchill

The final raid boss required for the Black Temple attunement is Rage Winterchill in Hyjal Summit.

Enter Hyjal Summit, defeat Rage Winterchill, and collect the required quest item.

Return to Akama after completing the objective.

At this point, you are very close to finishing the entire attunement.

Step 8: Complete the Final Quests

After finishing the Rage Winterchill objective, continue the remaining quests with Akama and A'dal.

You will eventually be sent to the Black Temple entrance in Shadowmoon Valley, where you need to speak with Xi'ri and complete the final objectives.

Once the final quest is completed, you receive the Medallion of Karabor.

The Medallion of Karabor is your reward for completing the Black Temple attunement and allows you to enter Black Temple.

Tips for Black Temple Attunement

Start the questline early rather than waiting until your raid group is ready for Black Temple. The Shadowmoon Valley portion takes some time, and completing it beforehand means you will only need to focus on the raid objectives later.
