Welcome to the misti.services Guide to Profession Knowledge in Midnight!

Maxing out your profession trees in World of Warcraft's Midnight expansion is a marathon, not a sprint. Filling out all those intricate talent nodes will take a few months of dedicated gameplay. In this exclusive misti.services guide, we are breaking down every single source of Profession Knowledge Points and exactly where you can farm them.

A quick word of warning before we dive in: Profession Knowledge Points are permanent. Once you spend them in your talent tree, they cannot be refunded. Plan your builds carefully and spend those points wisely!

We have split this guide into two main sections: one-time knowledge sources to kickstart your journey, and repeatable weekly activities to keep your progression moving forward.

Part 1: One-Time Profession Knowledge Sources

These sources offer a massive burst of knowledge points, but you can only claim them once per character. Once you tap these out, you will be relying on the weekly grinds.

Unique Profession Treasures Scattered across the new zones are hidden treasures specific to your trade. There are 8 unique treasures for every profession, and each grants 3 Knowledge Points. Finding all of them will net you a massive 24 Knowledge Points right out of the gate!

Renown Rewards The four major Renown factions in Midnight offer a heavy-hitting knowledge book that grants 10 Knowledge Points. You can buy this once per profession. To purchase it, you need to hit a specific Renown level with the corresponding faction and hand over 750 Voidlight Marl and 75 Artisan's Moxie. Here is where you need to build your reputation:

  • Alchemy, Blacksmithing, and Engineering: You need Renown 9 with The Singularity. The vendor is located at /way #2405 52.57 72.90.

  • Enchanting, Jewelcrafting, and Tailoring: You need Renown 6 with the Silvermoon Court. The vendor is located at /way #2395 43.43 47.44.

  • Herbalism and Inscription: You need Renown 6 with the Hara'ti. The vendor is located at /way #2413 51.01 50.84.

  • Leatherworking, Mining, and Skinning: You need Renown 6 with the Amani Tribe. The vendor is located at /way #2437 45.92 65.90.

The Abundance Vendor (Gathering Professions Only) If you are an Herbalist, Miner, Skinner, or Enchanter, seek out Chel the Chip, the Abundance Vendor. Chel sells a one-time item for each gathering profession that grants 10 Knowledge Points. It will set you back 1600 Unalloyed Abundance and 75 Artisan’s Moxie. You can track down Chel the Chip at any of these four locations:

  • Eversong Woods: /way #2395 56.78 65.79

  • Zul’Aman: /way #2437 31.62 26.14

  • Harandar: /way #2413 66.14 61.69

  • Voidstorm: /way #2405 38.82 53.31

First-Time Gathering and Crafting Bonuses The simplest way to earn points early on is just by playing the game.

  • Gatherers (Herbalism & Mining): Every time you tap a new type of node for the very first time, you gain 1 Knowledge Point.

  • Crafters: Every time you craft a new recipe for the first time, you are awarded 1 Knowledge Point. Look for the "First Craft" bonus indicator in your UI.

Part 2: Repeatable Profession Knowledge Sources

Once the honeymoon phase of one-time treasures is over, you will transition into the weekly reset loop. Keep in mind that for crafting professions, missing a week usually means those points are gone for good. Gathering professions, however, do feature a catch-up mechanic.

Weekly Profession Quests Every week, head over to your profession trainer in Silvermoon City. To unlock these quests, you must have your profession leveled to at least 25 and have completed the introductory questline from Captain Flaresworn (located near the Work Order NPCs). Gatherers will need to turn in raw materials, while crafters will be tasked with fulfilling work orders. Completing this rewards between 1 and 4 Knowledge Points.

Thalassian Treatises Once a week, you can consume a Thalassian Treatise specific to your profession to gain 1 Knowledge Point. These are created by players with the Inscription profession. They are Warbound, meaning you can craft them on an alt and transfer them, or simply place a personal/public order through the Crafting Orders system.

Weekly Crafting Drops from Treasures Crafters can loot regular treasures across the Midnight zones to find special items that grant Knowledge Points. You can only loot these specific items once per week. If you want to check if you have looted your weekly items, you can copy and paste the chat commands below into your game:

  • Alchemy: Lightbloomed Spore Sample (/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(93528))) and Aged Cruor (/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(93529)))

  • Blacksmithing: Thalassian Whetstone (/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(93530))) and Infused Quenching Oil (/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(93531)))

  • Enchanting: Voidstorm Ashes (/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(93532))) and Lost Thalassian Vellum (/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(93533)))

  • Engineering: Dance Gear (/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(93534))) and Dawn Capacitor (/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(93535)))

  • Inscription: Brilliant Phoenix Ink (/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(93536))) and Loa-Blessed Rune (/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(93537)))

  • Jewelcrafting: Void-Touched Eversong Diamond Fragments (/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(93538))) and Harandar Stone Sample (/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(93539)))

  • Leatherworking: Amani Tanning Oil (/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(93540))) and Thalassian Mana Oil (/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(93541)))

  • Tailoring: Embroidered Memento (/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(93542))) and Finely Woven Lynx Collar (/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(93543)))

Weekly Gathering Drops Gatherers naturally earn points just by doing their job in the Midnight zones. Each week, you will find 5 rare (blue) items and 1 epic (purple) item while gathering. The epic item always drops last and serves as your signal that you are "done for the week."

  • Mining: 5 Igneous Rock Specimens, 1 Septarian Nodule.

  • Herbalism: 5 Thalassian Phoenix Plumes, 1 Thalassian Phoenix Tail.

  • Skinning: 5 Fine Void-Tempered Hides / Manafused Samples, 1 Mana-Infused Bone.

  • Enchanting: 5 Swirling Arcane Essences, 1 Brimming Mana Shard.

  • Note on Catch-Up: If you missed gathering points in previous weeks, you will continue to find these items past the weekly cap until you are completely caught up to the current server maximum.

Patron Crafting Orders Checking the crafting table is mandatory for crafters. NPC Patron Orders are the primary weekly source of knowledge points, rewarding a total of 16 to 24 points per week. Be strategic here: Patrons often require you to supply some (or all) of the materials. Some orders can be exorbitantly expensive, so you will need to weigh the gold cost against the value of 1 or 2 Knowledge Points. You may also see orders for recipes you haven't unlocked yet, which is just the luck of the draw.

Darkmoon Faire (Monthly) Don't forget the Faire! Starting on the first Sunday of every month, the Darkmoon Faire opens its doors. Each profession has a specific quest here that rewards 2 raw Skill Points and 3 Profession Knowledge Points. You can only do this once per month, per profession. Before you head to the island, make sure you buy these items from the Auction House or a vendor, as you cannot get them at the Faire:

  • Alchemy: Bring 5 Moonberry Juice. Talk to Sylannia at /way #407 50.61 70.23 (Quest: A Fizzy Fusion).

  • Blacksmithing: Talk to Yebb Neblegear at /way #407 51.63 81.82 (Quest: Baby Needs Two Pair of Shoes).
