WoW Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ Affixes Guide
Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ is here, and the affix system is once again changing how every key plays out. While the basic structure will feel familiar to players who have been running Mythic+ recently, the rotating Xal'atath's Bargain affixes can completely change how your group approaches trash packs, positioning, interrupts, and cooldown usage.
The good news is that Midnight keeps the affix system relatively straightforward. You start with Lindormi's Guidance in lower keys, Xal'atath's Bargain appears at +5, Fortified or Tyrannical arrives at +7, both are active at +10, and the rotating Bargain is replaced by Xal'atath's Guile at +12.
If you're pushing Mythic+ this season, understanding these breakpoints is just as important as knowing your dungeon route.
Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ Affix Breakpoints
The Midnight Season 2 affix system follows a predictable progression as your keystone level increases.
Keystone Level | Affix | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
+2 to +5 | Lindormi's Guidance | Highlights specific enemies, reduces their health and damage by 5%, and removes the death timer penalty |
+5 | Xal'atath's Bargain | One of four rotating seasonal affixes becomes active |
+6 | Lindormi's Guidance removed | The training wheels come off and marked enemies are no longer weakened |
+7 | Fortified or Tyrannical | One of the two major difficulty affixes becomes active |
+10 | Fortified + Tyrannical | Both affixes are active |
+12 | Xal'atath's Guile | The weekly Bargain is replaced and deaths become more punishing |
This means that a +4 and a +5 can feel surprisingly different. The jump from +4 to +5 introduces a seasonal mechanic that your group must actively deal with instead of simply focusing on the dungeon itself.

Lindormi's Guidance: +2 to +5
Lindormi's Guidance is Midnight's beginner-friendly Mythic+ affix. It was designed to make the early levels easier for players who are still learning dungeon routes and figuring out which enemies count toward the Enemy Forces requirement.
Certain non-boss enemies are marked with Temporal Sands. These enemies are visually highlighted, have 5% less health and deal 5% less damage, and defeating the marked enemies provides a basic route through the dungeon.
There is another major difference at these lower levels: player deaths do not reduce the Mythic+ timer while Lindormi's Guidance is active.
That makes +2 through +5 a good place to learn the dungeon before moving into the more demanding versions of the keys. Blizzard specifically designed the highlighted route as a foundation rather than an optimized high-level route, so players pushing higher keys should eventually learn more efficient pulls.
Once you reach +6, Lindormi's Guidance disappears. Tanks can still interact with Lindormi and receive Lindormi's Glow, which keeps the route highlighting available, but the enemies are no longer weakened.
Xal'atath's Bargain: +5
At +5, the weekly Xal'atath's Bargain becomes active.
There are four possible Bargains:
Xal'atath's Bargain: Ascendant
Xal'atath's Bargain: Voidbound
Xal'atath's Bargain: Pulsar
Xal'atath's Bargain: Devour
Only one Bargain is active each week, so the mechanic you need to prepare for depends on the weekly rotation.
The important thing about these affixes is that they are not simply extra damage modifiers. Each one gives your group a mechanic to handle. Successfully dealing with the mechanic provides a temporary combat benefit, while failing it empowers nearby enemies.
That makes the Bargains something your group should actively play around rather than simply ignore.
Xal'atath's Bargain: Ascendant
Ascendant periodically summons Orbs of Ascendance that begin casting Cosmic Ascension.
Your group needs to stop the casts using interrupts or appropriate crowd-control abilities.
Successfully stopping the orbs provides the group with a temporary Haste and movement-speed benefit. If the casts are allowed to complete, nearby enemies receive a powerful combat buff that makes them more dangerous and harder to kill.
The main lesson for Ascendant is simple: do not treat the spawned orbs as background mechanics.
Assign interrupts or crowd control before the run starts and make sure everyone understands which abilities can stop them. Classes with reliable AoE interrupts or crowd control can be especially useful on these weeks.
Xal'atath's Bargain: Voidbound
Voidbound summons a Void Emissary while your group is in combat.
The Emissary creates a shield and channels Dark Prayer, empowering nearby enemies. Your group needs to focus the Emissary and break its shield before the cast finishes.
Successfully defeating the Emissary rewards the group with temporary Versatility and faster ability cooldowns.
If the shield is not removed in time, nearby enemies receive an offensive and defensive buff based on how much of the shield remains.
Voidbound therefore creates a very clear priority target. When the Emissary appears, switch damage onto it instead of blindly continuing your normal trash rotation.
For DPS players, saving some burst for the Emissary can make the mechanic significantly easier, especially when it appears during a large pull.
Xal'atath's Bargain: Pulsar
Pulsar is the positioning-focused Bargain.
Xal'atath creates Void Pulsar orbs that tether themselves to players and orbit around them. The group needs to intercept the appropriate orbs before the timer expires.
Successfully catching the Pulsars provides a temporary Mastery and Leech benefit for the group.
Failing to handle the orbs instead empowers nearby enemies.
The important thing here is communication and positioning. Players should avoid running randomly through the group when the Pulsars appear. Everyone needs to understand where the orbs are moving and position themselves so they can intercept them safely.
Pulsar is less about raw DPS and more about your group being organized.
Xal'atath's Bargain: Devour
Devour applies a Devouring Rift shield to players in the group.
The effect slows affected players and needs to be removed through healing or an appropriate dispel.
Successfully removing the effect grants Rift Essence, which provides temporary Critical Strike and maximum-health bonuses.
One important detail is that the shield is not a traditional healing absorb. Healing contributes toward removing the effect while also restoring the player's missing health.
Because the entire group can be affected, healers and players with dispels should be prepared to help clear the mechanic quickly.
Devour can become especially comfortable when your group has reliable dispel tools available. Classes with personal or group dispels can also make these weeks easier.
Fortified and Tyrannical
At +7, Midnight Season 2 introduces either Fortified or Tyrannical depending on the weekly rotation.
At +10, both are active.
Affix | Effect |
|---|---|
Fortified | Non-boss enemies have 20% more health and deal up to 20% more damage |
Tyrannical | Bosses have 25% more health and bosses and their minions deal up to 15% more damage |
Fortified makes trash pulls the primary challenge. Dangerous abilities, interrupts, stuns and defensive cooldowns become more important because regular mobs can survive longer and punish mistakes harder.
Tyrannical shifts more of the pressure toward bosses. Bosses have considerably more health, and their increased damage means groups need to handle mechanics consistently over longer encounters.
At +10 and above, both are active, so you need to account for both difficult trash and tougher bosses.
What Changes at +12?
+12 is an important breakpoint in Midnight Mythic+.
The weekly Xal'atath's Bargain is replaced by Xal'atath's Guile.
With Xal'atath's Guile active, player deaths remove 15 seconds from the remaining dungeon timer, up to the final minute of the run.
This makes deaths considerably more expensive than they are in lower keys.
A single mistake can already cost valuable time through the normal death and recovery process. At +12 and higher, the additional timer penalty makes repeated deaths especially damaging to a group's chance of timing the key.
The reward structure also means that players pushing beyond +12 are increasingly doing it for Mythic+ rating, achievements and other progression goals rather than simply chasing higher item-level dungeon drops.
Midnight Season 2 Affix Rotation
The four Xal'atath's Bargain affixes rotate weekly.
The current rotation means you should always check the active +5 affix before starting your key rather than assuming the mechanic from the previous week is still active.
For example, the current Season 2 schedule has included Voidbound and Pulsar, with the rotation continuing through Ascendant and Devour. The +7 Fortified/Tyrannical rotation also changes weekly.
For players who run Mythic+ regularly, checking the weekly affix before building your group can save a lot of failed keys. Some weeks naturally favor certain classes because of their interrupt, dispel, mobility or crowd-control options.
How to Prepare for Each Affix
You do not need a completely different character for every affix, but you should adjust your group mindset depending on the week.
Affix | Main Challenge | What Your Group Should Prioritize |
|---|---|---|
Ascendant | Interrupting or controlling orbs | Interrupts and CC |
Voidbound | Killing the Emissary | Priority damage and interrupts |
Pulsar | Catching the orbs | Positioning and communication |
Devour | Removing the group debuff | Healing and dispels |
Fortified | Dangerous trash | Defensive cooldowns, interrupts and pull control |
Tyrannical | Long, dangerous bosses | Boss mechanics, cooldown planning and sustained DPS |
Guile | Death penalties | Clean execution and minimizing deaths |
The biggest mistake is treating every affix as something the healer has to deal with. Most of the Midnight mechanics are group mechanics.
DPS players should interrupt, use defensive abilities and help with crowd control. Tanks should plan pulls around the active affix. Healers should prepare for the additional damage or dispel requirements rather than being expected to fix every mistake.
Mythic+ Strategy Changes From Week to Week
The weekly affix can also influence your route.
On Fortified weeks, large trash pulls can become much more dangerous, particularly when a pack contains several high-priority casts or abilities.
On Tyrannical weeks, you may want to plan your cooldowns around bosses and avoid entering important encounters without your major offensive abilities available.
The seasonal Bargains add another layer. A route that feels comfortable during Devour may need different positioning during Pulsar, while Voidbound rewards groups that can quickly switch onto priority targets.
This is one reason it is worth learning the mechanics rather than simply memorizing a route.

The Most Important Midnight Season 2 Affix Tips
If you only remember a few things before jumping into your next key, make them these:
Check the weekly +5 Bargain. Do not enter a key without knowing which Xal'atath mechanic is active.
Learn the mechanic before pushing high keys. The Bargains are designed around active group participation, not passive damage modifiers.
Use your interrupts. Ascendant and Voidbound can punish groups that ignore their casts.
Communicate during Pulsar. Positioning is much easier when everyone knows what they are trying to catch.
Do not leave Devour entirely to the healer. Dispel-capable players should help whenever possible.
Respect Fortified trash. Higher mob health and damage can turn an otherwise normal pull into a wipe.
Respect Tyrannical bosses. Longer encounters mean more mechanics and more opportunities for mistakes.
Treat +12 as a new difficulty breakpoint. Xal'atath's Guile makes every death more expensive.
Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ Affixes: Quick Reference
Key | Affix | Quick Explanation |
|---|---|---|
+2 | Lindormi's Guidance | Guided route, weaker marked enemies and no death timer penalty |
+5 | Xal'atath's Bargain | One rotating seasonal mechanic |
+6 | Guidance removed | Full enemy strength returns |
+7 | Fortified or Tyrannical | Weekly difficulty modifier |
+10 | Fortified + Tyrannical | Both major modifiers active |
+12 | Xal'atath's Guile | Deaths cost 15 seconds from the timer |
Midnight Season 2's Mythic+ system is ultimately less complicated than it first appears. The key levels tell you exactly when the major mechanics enter the dungeon, while the weekly Bargain determines the mechanic your group needs to master.
For lower keys, Lindormi's Guidance gives newer players a chance to learn routes without being punished heavily for mistakes. Once you move beyond +5, the game starts asking for more coordination. At +10, both Fortified and Tyrannical are active, and +12 introduces the much harsher death penalty from Xal'atath's Guile.
If you're pushing rating this season, the best approach is to treat each affix as part of your weekly strategy rather than an annoyance that you simply have to survive.
